Oracle technologies: Oracle ADF

Five years ago, Oracle's Java development environment featuring the JDeveloper and the Application Development Framework (ADF) was no more than a modest attempt to provide a productive JEE environment. In the meantime, JDeveloper and the ADF have become the strategic and operative development platform in all Oracle applications.

Oracle ADF has more than 150 standardized Java Server Faces (JSFs) with integrated Ajax technology. They allows Web applications to be created with a functional scope and level of interactivity and functionality previously the reserve of client/server applications. Besides Web applications, the same framework can still be used to develop rich-client applications, mobile applications, and integrated Microsoft Excel solutions.

Visual, extensive workflow and function control, simple connection to the data model, business services for SOA concepts, fine-granular security concepts,

declarative and user-specific adaptations without changes to the source code, and, above all, reusability of individual components are the watchwords of Version 11g. The framework is the core component of the Oracle E-Business Suite and the basis for developing proprietary applications in the technology stack of Oracle Fusion Middleware, such as the Oracle BI Suitee.
